During the summer of 2013, I spent almost 6 weeks in Jacmel, Haiti. I ran the Haiti Family Initiative Wellness Program which offered a medical clinic, a women's empowerment program and a children's camp. Here are some of my notes and thoughts.

Keeper of the Rice



KEEPER OF THE RICE 


 Little, dirty fingers slide in to the palm of my hands. They grab on to my belt loops. They hang on my purse straps. They cling to my legs. They know I am the keeper of the rice.
